Rezart Taci Biography

Businessman and Community Leader

Mr. Rezart Taci was born and raised in Tirana, Albania.  In 1998, he began a career in the trading industry of finished oil products where he worked hard to establish his well-respected name. Internationally recognized as one of Eastern Europe’s leading businessmen and entrepreneurs, Mr. Taci has established an impressive portfolio of companies in Energy and Media.In 2003 Mr. Taci established Taçi Oil International Trading and Supply Company Sh.A (Taci Oil).  At its inception the company had only six employees and leased storage facilities in Shengjin-Lezhe, a port on the northern coast of Albania.  Later, Taci Oil acquired this facility and expanded operations with additional tankers and added additional facilities in Porto-Durres.  The combined storage for the two facilities is over 80,000 cubic meters and expanding.In 2004, Mr. Taci established Anika Enterprises S.A (ANIKA), a Switzerland-based company acting as the trading arm of Taci Oil, to support his operations and expand his international partnerships.  In 2006, Mr. Taci established KUID Sh.p.k (KUID) in order to expand into the retail sector of refined products.  The company began by operating 29 petrol stations. By 2009 the network of petrol stations had expanded to 84.  Today there are over 300 Taci Oil petrol stations and 1400 employees.In 2008, Mr. Taci participated in the international tender for the privatization of Albanian Refining and Marketing of Oil Sh.A (ARMO). Mr. Taci was awarded the tender and acquired 85% of the shares of ARMO.  ARMO owns and operates the only two oil refineries in Albania. Along with the two refineries, the Taci Group (ANIKA, Taci Oil, ARMO, KUID) operates the largest storage facilities, as well as the largest network of retail petrol stations in the country.  The group has begun to expand into neighboring countries.In September of 2012 Mr. Taci, through his company YPO Oil and Energy with its majority stake in Vetro Energy Pte. Ltd, participated in the international tender to acquire Albpetrol, the Albanian national energy company, for 850 million Euro.  Albpetrol owns all of the onshore and offshore oil and gas rights, gas transmission and all above ground oil producing and transmission assets in Albania.  In October of 2012 Mr. Taci and his group YPO Oil and Energy were awarded the rights to purchase Albpetrol.  The privatization of Albpetrol will not only vertically integrate the Taci Group of companies, (exploration and supply, refining and retail sales of finished petroleum products) but it will also enable them to create an international energy hub, in Albania for Southeastern Europe.In 2010, Mr. Taci purchased Albanian Screen, an Albanian satellite and analog television station with over ten million viewers, broadcasting into twelve different countries throughout Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Africa.Besides his many business pursuits, Mr. Taci participates in nearly all-major foundations and charities in Albania providing for the less fortunate.  He is directly involved with the following charitable organizations. In 2008, Mr. Taci established the private school Nobel, for grades 1 through 12, which offers one of the top educational programs within the country.  Mr. Taci is a major donor to Dora e Ngrohte, a humanitarian, non-profit association supporting children and adults with mental and physical disabilities in order to help them enjoy a fulfilling life as equals within their family, community and Albanian society as a whole. Dora e Ngrohte provides food, housing and education for children and adults. Mr. Taci is also the president of the Albanian Chess Federation and sponsored the 2011 Women’s World Championship Match, held in Tirana, Albania November, 2011 and co-presided over the awards ceremony with Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev.  Taci Oil is an official sponsor of A.C.
